In this series we interview Aurovilians about their personal experiences with the Matrimandir in Auroville. Today it’s Francis.
Francis came to Auroville in 1968. He was busy planting trees and building dams when he first heard the murmurs of a momentous construction going on somewhere. The first time he visited the site where the Matrimandir stands today, it looked like an Egyptian Pharaoh’s construction project, and he was taken in by it immediately.

Matrimandir and I as a series is a human experiment, looking into how aurovilians relate to the soul of Auroville – the Matrimandir. The dream is to interview all citizens of Auroville.
